The Geneva Preschool has a long history in the Westmont neighborhood of Johnstown, PA. As a ministry of Westmont Presbyterian Church, our preschool opened over 50 years ago, and for many years was known as Geneva House, a name still recalled by many in our area. In 2011, the preschool moved into the church building and was renamed The Geneva Preschool. We have proudly been a state-licensed academic preschool for over 15 years. By incorporating music, art, movement, spiritual development, social interaction, and academic learning into our daily lessons, we strive to maintain the high standards of academic, spiritual, and social development for which The Geneva Preschool has come to be known.
Our director/teacher, Kristen Kane, has been teaching at The Geneva Preschool since 2011, and became the Director in 2015. She has a Master’s Degree in Music Therapy and loves to incorporate music into the curriculum. Mrs. Kane has held various teaching positions over the years, from preschool to community college. She has two children who both attended the Geneva Preschool prior to entering Kindergarten. Mrs. Kane holds a Private Nursery/Kindergarten School Teacher Certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and is trained in first aid and CPR.
Our co-teacher, Jayna Mood, began teaching at The Geneva Preschool in 2015. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in counseling with a child focus. Mrs. Mood worked as a counselor for 6 years before joining our preschool. She also has a daughter who attended the Geneva Preschool prior to entering Kindergarten. Mrs. Mood holds a Private Nursery/Kindergarten School Teacher Certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
